There are innumerable studies that show people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and/or BIPOC, earn less than the national average.

To that end, part of the Desert Playwrights’ Retreat’s mission is to remove the barrier of money to the creation of art. Through our generous donors, we are able to offer every participant:

• Free lodging ($3,500 total rental per cohort)
• Substantial travel stipend (approximately $600/playwright, often covering travel costs completely)
• Food stipend ($50)

Additionally, our resident dramaturgs are also paid for their time supervising the lodging and leading the feedback when work is shared.

Sponsorship of the retreat and the organization is available at multiple levels:

• Full Cohort Sponor (covers lodging, travel, food for one full cohort) = $7,500
• Fly the Artists (travel for one full cohort) = $3,600
• House the Artists (lodging for one full cohort) = $3,500
• Sponsor a Playwright (covers lodging, travel and food for one participant) = $1,000
• Fly an Artist (travel for one participant) = $600
• Feed the Artists! (covers food for one cohort) = $350
• I just want to help (organization costs and salaries) = ANY AMOUNT!

IN KIND DONATIONS: Desert Playwrights’ Retreat would be thrilled to work out any in-kind donations you might have in mind, including:

• Donating all or part of your AirBnB’s rental fee for cohort lodging
• Airline miles for artist travel
• Prepared meals for the artists (dining out, delivered)
• Theater rental for possible public staged readings;
• Anything other creative service or supply you think we could use!
