DPR LAB
DPR LAB is a free, bi-monthly developmental playwriting Lab open to any LGBTQ playwrights in the Los Angeles area.
Under the direction of LAB Director, Daniel Will-Harris, DPR LAB is a “juicy developmental playground to hear pages aloud and receive feedback in a safe closed, yet open-minded, setting.”
LAB is currently limited to stage plays only. Playwrights bring up to 20 pages of their latest dramatic or comedic masterpiece (or glorious hot mess—we don’t judge). The gathered writers will read the pages aloud, then react and reflect with kindness and love.
There are two levels of participation – DROP IN and MEMBER.
—DROP IN participants are any LGBTQ playwright in the Los Angeles area who wants to join in on any DPR LAB meeting, whether they present pages of not.
—DPR LAB MEMBERS are LGBTQ playwrights who have attended three (3) or more LAB sessions in a calendar year. Membership is automatic, and free, with their third attendance.
BENEFITS TO DPR LAB MEMBERSHIP
- First dibs on our Palm Springs retreats (April and October)
- Participation in future reading series of member plays (additional criteria to be determined)
- Priority scheduling of pages (currently not necessary, but as we grow this might be a factor)
- Your name on the DPR website as an official member of the DPR LAB.
